1.3 . Treatment:
The recovery times and treatment are established depending on the injury. Following established guidelines for its implementation.
Stage 1 (48-72 h)
a) Objective: Reduce pain and inflammation.
b) Actions:
Application of ice should be applied every 2 hours for 10-15 minutes, taking into account that there is no excessive redness of the area that might result in sunburn.
Compression: By bandage, will help restore the area.
Sleep: It’s harder to regulate, but perhaps most important. The area should be without support, rest or less active as possible.
Stage 2 (3 days to 1 week)
a) Objective: Improve the range of motion. Range of motion recover after a period of discharge and rest is crucial at this time.
b) Actions:
Application of heat: Once reduced inflammation, the application of heat will improve the trophic status of the muscle, facilitating the warming of the pre-mobilization efforts.
Mobilization: The work area to fully recover their mobility.
Electrotherapy: Using ultrasound as a parent.
Isometric contractions: a healing should be as small and functional as possible. Isometric contractions from the 4th or 5th day, promote the proper orientation of the fibers injured.
Stretching: only be conducted at this stage, whether it is a strain that does not reach the degree of breakage.
Massage: Some experts advise against it until the wound healing both in total and partial tears as their application can lead to further bleeding from the damaged area. However, if used very aggressive techniques can be very beneficial, without presenting any contraindication.
Stage 3 (1 to 3 weeks)
a) Objective: Increase strength, elasticity and resistance.
b) Treatment:
Isometrics: Continuing the work begun earlier.
Empowerment: You can include active exercises.
Stretching: Job active-assisted stretching and liabilities.
Proprioception: Aimed to regain sensation, often believes that the recovery work focuses exclusively on the joint but can also work the muscle, trying to be able to react to feelings of imbalance.
StageĀ 4 (4 to 6 weeks)
a) Objective: Take up the competition or activity.
b) Treatment:
Specific training: It will impact on the strengthening or muscle strengthening exercises by reproducing the conditions of the competition.
Work will begin on the low-speed eccentric training for increasing sarcomere and recovery of muscular structures.
Accredited Studies indicate that the contralateral muscle group working to impact positively on the recovery of injured muscle group. This fact must be taken into account when developing a program to gain muscle strength of the affected area, can use this technique in the early stages in which movement is contraindicated affected segment.
Sport: The main objective from the moment the injury occurs, is to resume sporting activity. Sometimes, the urge to resume activity produces relapse to cut downtime. Prior to competing to be taken into account:
1) Conduct a scan: To verify the correct healing.
2) Recovery muscle: The muscle on the injured side to be equal to the unaffected side both in terms of strength as in elasticity.
3) absence of pain: It is a fundamental rule. Before resuming the competition you must be sure that the feelings are good and that pain has subsided. Should pain recur, the activity should be suspended.
Stretches of the damaged area: It is very important to perform before and after activity.
Applying a taping: It is convenient when the sporting activity is resumed, these kinds of dressings to enhance the safety of the athlete but, being careful not to become routine for the future.
With this, terminating regarding the injury commonly known as “stone”. As always for any questions regarding this or other item “Consultation” is still open to resolve as far as possible.
