How Exercise Can Help Keep Children Happy

As adults we are constantly being told to exercise three times a week for 30-40 minutes, but many people seem to find it hard to find the time. As kids though, we have much more time on our hands so once school is over, get them outdoors to play when weather allows as this half an hour a day a few times a week does wonders for their health as they are growing up.

Its been scientifically proven than all sorts of aspects of the human body benefit from fresh air and exercise on a regular basis. Even walking to school is much more beneficial than a 5 minute car journey but how many of us drive our kids to school when its just a ten or 15 minute walk?

Do think about how often you drive them to school when by the time you battle the traffic it may not take much longer to walk. There are days when it rains walking is not totally viable but a lot of the time we life very close to the school, many parents spend time looking for a house when buying which is close to a school, but still drive them. The added extra exercise from walking to and from school soon adds up in fitness benefits.

If the school is not close by then look into getting the kids outdoors to play several times a week in both the summer and winter. It may rain a lot in your country but there are always days when you can find half an hour for them to go outside. During the summer months is when the most benefits are found due to the sun and lighter evenings.

There are a huge range of activities for children to do outdoors which burn calories which include hide and seek, You are it, which is very popular in the UK. Outdoor toys and games include trampolines, climbing frames, swings, ride on toys down to just playing in a sandpit.

When children receive this level of outdoor play the benefits are superb and educate kids so in later life they are aware of how exercise is something we should all do, no matter what our age. For starters it tones the body up, muscle is very important with exercise being known by many to help reduce illnesses. Both children and adults can feel so much better about themselves, not just because they are slimmer than before but also the mental side as it can really give off endorphins which provide a happy nature instead of a grumpy mood. If your kids are ever in a bad mood, send them outside to play and steer them away from their games console or sitting in their room where this does not benefit them at all.
